This is me

From millions that were released, only one emerged victorious: the special one. It competed with others, survived all odds and conquered that ‘one’ special egg. Nine months later, I was born.

Who am I? I often ask this question. It’s a simple question yet complicated to answer. It involves looking beyond everything; body, heart, mind and soul. What if I look into the mirror? Will I get my answer? No, I won’t! I will just see this boy staring back at me; he’s short and thin, with long wavy hair, a goatee & a sharp nose. It’s nothing special, just superficial. No one can judge a book by its cover.

So, what if I ask others? Since the best reflection of ourselves, are the people around us, will I now get my answer? In their eyes, I am the ‘5 As’; amiable, altruistic, ambitious, amusing and always smiling. No wonder I was ever called the epitome of happiness.

That’s who I am in their eyes: a funny guy, a friendly lad & free young soul.
Although there is some truth in how they view me, I have to assure everyone; that smiles do not equate cheerfulness. In every light, there is darkness, in every happiness, there is sadness.

Sometimes I might be happy when I’m with them, playing the song of laughter as the background, painting the surroundings with smiles and colorful expressions, but here’s the catch; I’m just wearing a façade of an upside down frown.
